The yard sale continues

We're yard-sale-ing again today.  At least it is in our backyard and there is plenty of shade.  I somehow managed to get a bit of a sunburn on my face yesterday.  Except where my bangs were, so I have a nice uneven burn on my forehead, cuz I'm classy like that.

You know, I figured a yard sale was a lot of work but good golly!  Running it for three days and the preparation that goes into it - whew!  Biju says over and over to people we talk with "This is our first yard sale, and it is going to be our last." - at least for another 10 years, I'd say.

The kids are re-discovering their old toys that I cleaned out of their toy boxes last fall.  Woops.  Aren is doing well.  Mostly sitting in his booster seat, or playing in the pack-n-play.  Sometimes he wants to crawl around and he gets all dirty.  The joys of being young and carefree and not caring that you're filthy.

In case you're wondering what type of things we're hoping to sell, here is a small list:

Huge multi-family yard sale (in our backyard),  05/25/12 & 05/26/12 (7:00 am - 6:00 pm).
Lots of kids toys, clothes (mostly out of date baby clothes but hey, if you need something for the baby to crawl around in and get dirty in, these are great!)
Infant car seats, bathtubs, toys, monitor + lots more
Washer/Dryer set
Kitchen Stove
CD's
Men's clothes (size large) - Eddie Bauer, Banana Republic, GAP ...
Women's clothes (sizes vary)
Small TV, inexpensive TV stand/entertainment unit
16x13 carpet piece
almost brand new van/suv tire - 235/65/16
storm windows
Solid wood - double sized bed set with matching mirrored vanity
a little bit of everything!!

I think we're going to get the Tiki Torches out today to try to keep the mosquitoes away.  I got a few small bites but the boys really got bit up.  Poor Alex is allergic and his ear looks - well, realllly bad.

It's 6:30am and all three boys are awake.  Going to get them some breakfast then head out and finish setting up!   Again, if any of you locals want to swing by, please do.  If you need my address, e-mail or call.

Happy 1st Birthday, Aren!

Our little guy has turned 1 year old.  How fast time flies.

He went from this:

To this:

...in no time flat, it seems.

This last month has been a pretty big one.  He went from scooting everywhere to crawling.  He got his first tooth (the same day I posted that he didn't have any, in fact).  He waves and says "Bye-Bye,"  he's cruising along the furniture at a faster rate, he signs "all done," and turns pages of his board books when we read.  He's figured out how to climb stairs and go down them safely (we only have a couple in the house).  When asked "Arennn....what's in your mouth?" he opens his mouth for you so you don't have to dig around for whatever he's put in there.  Oh, and my favorite - he gives kisses when asked (usually).

He has his one year well-check coming up on Tuesday but when we took him in last week (that cough just won't go away!) he had finally reached 15lbs!!  The scale kept trying to dip down to 14lb 15.5oz but it did lock in at 15lb - he's really growing fast, now!
We love watching this little fella grow into his personality.  He likes to try to wrestle with his big brothers, he'll eat just about anything you put in front of him (no peas, please!), he enjoys pushing cars around, shaking rattle toys (or squeezing a plastic water bottle so it makes a lot of noise), he gets excited whenever he sees the cat enter the room.  And he still loves a good cuddle.  Awww.
To mark his first birthday, we had a small celebration here at home.  We ordered pizza for dinner and he enjoyed the bites we gave him.  He didn't seem particularly fond of the green pepper but he liked the rest.

We also went to our favorite local bakery to pick out a cake.  We chose the family favorite - Black Forrest.
While we were choosing, Ajay and Alex announced they wanted a cookie.  This bakery usually gives the boys free cookies and today was no exception.  The girl behind the counter was happy to hand them both their requested butterfly cookies.  Then Biju and I decided we wanted a couple for ourselves.  (When we looked at our receipt later, we noticed she didn't charge us for ours, either!)

Thinking that Aren shouldn't have too much chocolate we decided to get him his own little smash cake - it was a Lemon Curd Cake Roll.

He seemed a little confused by the singing and lit candle in front of him.

But Aren wasted no time eating his cake!!

He was taken straight to the tub :)

Happy Birthday, Aren Kutto (coo-toe) (Aren Baby)

And for those of you new to my blog, or for anyone who wants to go down memory lane with us, here is the post about his birth story.

Crafty Day w/ The Girls

Last Saturday The Girls and I had a Crafty Day get together.  Lisa, Erin, Natalie, Morgan, Janel and I met at Morgan's house - we were missing Tonya and Elissa, so we were determined to have enough fun for them, too!

We got caught up, played with the little ones that were lucky enough to be brought along...
Ellie, Cooper and Aren got to join in the fun.
Ellie insisted on posing for a photo.
...then we were off for the afternoon!  We started out with some Chinese for lunch then hit the downtown district and walked lunch off by poking around several shops.  I bought myself some pretty yarn (50% off!) that is nice and soft.  I'm thinking I'll make myself a shawl or a wrap.

Our last stop while out and about was at a candy shop.  We picked up some fudge to nibble on once we got back to Morgan's.  Yum!  I didn't really get much crocheting done but sure did enjoy the company and food tasting!  A few of the other gals did get out their hooks and needles, though, and got a few stitches in.

Erin entertaining Aren with her knitting needles.
It was also the day for our swap.  I drew Erin's name and wasn't sure what to make, so I made three things:

Moss covered "W"

A "Merry-Go-Round" made into a photo magnet.  (That red yearn does not photograph well!)

A shawl, named "On the Town"

A close up of the bobble-edging.
I always love our get togethers.  I do wish we weren't spread across the state like we are so we could have more gatherings like this!
